Bacula - backup

bacula-logo.png

I’ve spent the last two week of my spare time setting up and learning Bacula. It’s a backup program that can backup a unix and windows based clients. I’ve set it up on Fedora Core 7 Linux to a mysql database and I finally seem to have a good base knowledge of the program and how to play around with the config files.

All in all I’ve enjoyed some fun hacking getting it to workthe way I want it to.

I tested 2.0.3 from yum, and then 2.2 from source…. but had problem getting the configure script to find my qt4 installation. So tried 2.2 rpms but had ran into dependency hell…… so reverted to 2.0.3 for the final server install. I was wanting 2.2 for the bat gui addition. But havn’t missed it as bconsole seems to get the job done.

Check out www.bacula.org for more details if your interested.
I am adding my documentation of bacula to my wiki.
